Developed by The Gottman Institute, the Relationship Checkup is a thorough online assessment couples can take to get a measure of the state of your marriage. The assessment takes between one to two hours (you can stop and start again as many times as you need, it saves what you’ve done so it doesn’t need to be completed in one sitting), and after each spouse has completed their part, results are sent to me. You can then schedule an appointment, either individually or as a couple, and we can review the results together. From there, we can decide what, if any, steps need to be taken to achieve your goals and teach you to have the loving, lasting, fulfilling marriage you desire!
The Gottman Relationship Checkup is very detailed, and will assess:
- Friendship and Intimacy
- Conflict
- Passion and Romance
- Emotional Disengagement and Loneliness
- Chaos and Control
- Commitment
- Meta-Emotions
- The “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”
- Compromise
- Negative Sentiment Override
- Family History (brief)
Additionally, the Gottman Relationship Checkup screens for:
- Drug and Alcohol Abuse
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Interpersonal Sensitivity
- Anger-Hostility
- Trouble Falling Asleep
- Restless or Disturbed Sleep
- Feelings of Guilt
- Physical Abuse
An assessment of this quality and caliber can cost as much as $200 to $300. But the Gottman Relationship Checkup costs a one-time fee of $29 per couple. That’s per couple, not per person. My standard fee per session then applies for reviewing the results, and per any additional subsequent sessions. Couples have been finding hope and help as a result of this assessment, and I have been having great success in turning broken, troubled marriages towards better ways of communicating and resolving conflict.
